Money20/20 USA Returns to Las Vegas October 27, 2024

How 2024 Builds On Years Past

If you’ve been following Money20/20, you know that each year explores an ongoing industry conversation.

In 2022, finance’s biggest conference focused on themes like vulnerability and chain reactions, framing conversations around adapting to a volatile world and understanding the ripple effects of change. Then came 2023, which shifted gears to focus on trust, sustainable growth and practical solutions. This was a year of hard resets — moving from “growth at all costs” to “let’s build something that lasts.”

Now the focus is on bringing innovation to life, with AI and machine learning taking center stage. The question is no longer whether we’ll use AI; it’s how well we’ll integrate it into our lives.

What to Expect from the 2024 Agenda

Of course, with more than 350 speakers, there are plenty of general business sessions, but several key themes emerge for 2024. Here, we look at four of the most prominent.

1. AI Everywhere: The Future of Financial Services

Whether it’s real-time fraud detection or AI-powered chatbots helping customers, financial institutions are using AI to make operations more efficient and customer experiences more personal. Expect sessions exploring how machine learning is driving credit risk assessments and automating compliance, taking pressure off human teams while making processes faster and more accurate.

It’s not just about throwing AI at every problem, though. A big part of the conversation will focus on responsible AI. How can we deploy these technologies transparently, without bias, and in ways that foster trust? The companies that will dominate in the future are figuring out where human expertise matters most and where machines can take over, whether that’s eliminating tedious administrative tasks or providing consumers with a more personalized experience.

While there’s certainly overlap across these themes, here are a handful of noteworthy sessions on AI. (See below for other AI-related sessions.)

2. Embedded Finance and the Future of Payments

Embedded finance is reshaping how people interact with financial services, while real-time and instant payment solutions are helping to facilitate these offerings by making transactions smoother and faster. It’s no longer just banks and fintechs leading the charge, either.

Retailers, marketplaces and more are all integrating payments, lending, insurance and loyalty programs directly into their platforms. Think buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) options at checkout or micro-insurance bundled with travel bookings. These seamless experiences keep customers engaged, create new ways for businesses to generate revenue and enable unbanked consumers to complete transactions regardless of internet connections.

Instant payments also play a key role in embedded services. From gig economy platforms offering immediate payouts to BNPL providers relying on fast payment rails, consumers now expect speed and convenience more than ever before. As financial services become more deeply embedded into everyday platforms, the demand for faster payment networks continues to grow.

At Money20/20 USA 2024, sessions will explore the intersection of embedded finance and payment innovation, offering insights into how companies are integrating financial services into their platforms and leveraging real-time payment networks to meet rising customer expectations.
